Canadian Military records found at Canada National Archives has record of Edward F. Gibson joining Cdn Expeditionary Force 16 Feb 1915. Birth Date is listed as 1st Feb 1879 at London, Essex, England; Mrs. Florence Gibson as Next of Kin; and address as Oglivie St., Eastview. His occupation is described as “Decorator”. Also indicated on enlistment papers is fact Edward served for 7 years with the 44th Battalion, 1st Essex, England.
UK Military Attestation/Enlistment papers record Edward F. Gibson joined the Essex Regiment on 13 August 1897 also recorded on his Canadian enlistment papers. No other British military file records have been located to date.
1891 UK Census provides us with an Edward and Widowed mother in Chelsea that fits.
Doris Lillian also voiced fact that family immigrated to Canada in 1904 (confirmed) and that she was born (a twin) aboard the vessel. No sources can be found to verify any of the originating history nor have any Canada Archive passenger ship records been found to support the foregoing or the fact the Gibson family passage. However, entries in Canada Census 1911 notes family entered Canada in 1904.
