A James Haw, named in sons marriage register, has not been identified. A James Haw, also born in Ardtrea and enlisted in same 89th in 1826 and said to have been stationed in West Indies, may/or may not be father, but confirmed source records that link the two has not as yet been uncovered.

This James Haw is recorded as having joined 89th Regiment of Foot on 17 Aug 1826 and discharged 8 Aug 1848 - (Having served time in both East and West Indies)
